13 Foods You Should Buy ORGANIC
Lets face it, nowadays everything is organic. I once came across an organic toothpaste (no joke).
Going organic is a wonderful way to stay healthy, but it is more expensive. So here is a definitive list as to which foods you really should buy organic.
1. Beef - It’s important to avoid the unnecessary hormones and massive doses of antibiotics that cattle are given.
2. Strawberries -...
7 Daily Habits Skinny People Swear By
1. Become friends with Tea. Especially the white and green which have the most antioxidants. According to the American Journal of Clincical Nutrition, those who sipped more tea over a span of 14 years were thinner than those who sipped less.
2. Exercise in the morning. Okay this is a controversial one, but study after study confirms one thing: Exercise on an empty stomach burns more fat....
Four qualities that will kill your relationship
Relationship experts say that there are 4 personality traits that are detrimental to any relationship. So if you have em change em! And if your partner has them, you may want to think twice about pursuing a long term relationship.
According to Renay Cleary Bradley, director of research for the Relationship Research Institute in Seattle, the enormous red flags are:

Victoria Beckham is having a GIRL!
Congrats to David and Victoria Beckham! After three boys, they finally got their “girl.”
“Obviously, we’re very lucky to be expecting again, and this is the first time I’m going to say it: It’s a little girl,” David shared.
“We’re still in shock. Obviously, having three boys, you kind of expect another one, so finding out a little girl is in there is surprising, but, obviously,...
Jennifer Lopez's Abs-olutely Hot Bod!
Jenny from the block has been doing some hardcore workouts since giving birth to twins Max and Emme!
Earlier this week - Jennifer Lopez, 41, showed off her fantastic physique at the American Idol Top 13 Finalist Party.
Even Ryan Seacrest had to mention the obvious.
“The abs are looking good!” Seacrest exclaimed after the debut of Lopez’s music video On the Floor.
So...
How I plan to lose a few pounds
With Amy:
And Treadmill:
This is how I plan to lose the few pounds I gained!
Amy’s meals (under 350 calories) for dinner
Lots of water!
No eating after 6pm
And 2 miles on treadmill, every night
One good habit I do have going is my Saturday long runs, usually about 9 miles.
Shouldn’t be too hard to lose, but with company visiting and travel the next month, things could get...
Changing Directions..
I had originally intended this blog to be about running. Just, running.
But after a lot of researching, writing and brainstorming, I’ve decided that I have a passion for writing about fitness in general, whether it be mine, someone I admire, or a celebrity. That includes weight loss, inspiring stories, celebrity fitness, and inspiration to live a better, stronger, healthier life. So,...
Moving House Stress hypnosis
I’m sorry. This is just too funny not to mention.
As I was reading articles about how to organize clutter before a big move, I came across a website that offers a hypnosis for moving house stress. It’s $12.95. I mean, for the love of.. what will they think of next!?
I promise to post more fitness articles soon. I’ve been dealing with this “moving house stress”...

New Hydration Research
I never knew there was such a prominent link between being “a little bit” thirsty and having a BAD run.
But experts now say that if you are more than two percent dehydrated on a warm day, your performance goes down, down, down.
Here’s what to do to stay on top of it:
1) drink first: The rule of thumb is 8-16 ounces an hour or two before a run.
2) go cold: It’s a...
Celebs Who Love to Run
Renee Zellweger is my favorite celeb runner. She’s dedicated, consistent, and fast.
Although local New Yorkers catch frequent glimpses of Renee running through Manhattan, she’s not hard to spot in whatever city she is in! Check out the photo above from a 2010 trip to Paris with Bradley Cooper.
Renee admits that she is a running fanatic, admitting that she logs about three miles...
Worst Race. Evah.
So in my brief history of racing (close to 3 years now), this was probably the one I was most disappointed by.
There were several factors that I should have considered, and I’m disappointed with myself that I didn’t think of them.
Here’s where everything fell apart:
1. I got to the “starting line” late. So I was in the last row (practically) and didn’t...

Tuesday's Tip: Find a Mantra
We’ve all been there. We’re having a great run and then - out of nowhere- a cramp sets in, or the foot starts hurting, or a hill is a lot harder than you remembered. What to do, what to do.
Many people suggest reciting a mantra, and keeping your attention and focus solely on the mantra. Some recite phrases, others scriptures.. I like quotes. My mantra for the week is:

MONDAY'S QUOTE
“THE MIND IS EVERYTHING. WHAT YOU THINK, YOU BECOME.” - BUDDHA
Snoooowbound. sigh. And Intervals. deep sigh.
(above: when I opened my deck door..)
Man, we are just getting SLAMMED with snow here in the Northeast. I love my outdoor runs, but there’s just no way iz gon’ happen. There isn’t enough “road” for cars, muchless a crazy runner.
Okay so it’s the dreaded mill tonight. Gonna try and put in some intervals and watch something interesting on TV. Any suggestions?...
Tues Tip: The Importance of A Proper Arm Swing
Yes folks, arm swing is not just for baseball, it’s important for runners too.
Why?
Supposedly, proper arm swing can make you run faster, longer and easier than running with bad form.
So here are the *basics* :
Keep your elbows close to your body (but not too close that it’s uncomfortable).
That said, push your elbows back not forward
Resist the urge to lift (or move)...

I saw the Queen. Oprah, that is.
This is a WatchMomRun to Chicago post.
I just got back from Chicago where I saw Oprah - and her show - for the very first time.
My expectations of Oprah were so high, I was almost setting myself up for dissappointment, right?!
Right. And Wrong.
First. I will say, Oprah is everything I thought she would be- articulate, laid-back, classy, professional and totally, utterly, fantastically...
My 2011 Running Goal, revisited.
Sorry for no video post this weekend. My “camera man” came down with the flu and I didn’t get a chance to post one. But soon!!
My brain has been all over the place lately. Im still trying to really get focused on my goals for 2011. I have so many different ones.
But my “running” goal remains the same.
2011 Goal: New PR for 5K (trying to go for 22:00 minutes....
Hips Don't Lie
I’ve been pretty fortunate not to have many (if any) injuries from running. That being said, lately my body has been giving me a “persistent” reminder that I need to take more time *before* I run to loosen it up. Okay, okay, I get it. I’m on it.
So what is this reminder? It’s my hips of all places! Some people get soreness in their knees, muscles, back, neck -...
Inspirational photo
I used this photo on Daily Mile and got such a great response, I thought I’d share it with you guys too.
What do you envision while you’re running?
I envision my lungs and body filling up with fresh air. Running makes me feel alive.
Have a great Tuesday :)
Snot Gloves
Yes, there is such a thing. And although it may be disgusting to think about, snot happens to the best of us.
Advertisers are smart though. They don’t say: “buy our snot gloves.” They say: “soft, windproof fabric on the thumb gives you a gentle place to wipe your nose.”
So confess now. Are you a glove-snot wiper or do you carry a tissue?

Meet "TR"..
So this is my treadmill, affectionately names “TR,” and the bane of my existence lately. TR and I have been through years of ups and downs, and this winter just has not been a good one for us.
Last night, I tried to put in my miles. But mentally, I was totally defeated. How is it that one can run 8+ miles in freezing temps, wind, hail, snow and ice, yet fails to run a measly mile...

Re: Running Shoes
Buy Running shoes during your lunch break. Afternoons are the best time because your feet are at their largest midday.
Heat Destroys. The trunk of your car is not the best place to throw your shoes. Heat damages the form & shape of the shoe.
Untie the Laces. Believe it or not, kicking off your shoes with the laces tied can not only ruin the fit, but the heel counter as...
